Featured Interview and Giveaway: Erica Hayes and The Seven Signs Series

A few weeks ago, we had the honor of hosting Erica during her Redemption blog tour. Heather and I fell in love with not only the authors writing but also the author herself. She is such a sweetheart and we had to have her back to talk about her Seven Signs Series, her life as a writer, and we also threw in some fun questions, which she answered with a lot of pizzazz! Make sure you grab a copy and add the novels to your shelf on Goodreads.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd There is a GIVEAWAY!!!!

Erica Hayes, welcome to Mother/Gamer/Writer. Pull up a chair, grab your poison of choice, and tell us a bit about yourself![/note]

Thanks for inviting me along. I’m stoked to be here! I’ll have one of those milky chocolate cocktails, thanks. Mmm…

About me? I write sexy paranormal romance books. I live in England right now, which means I’m usually huddling somewhere warm, out of the snow/rain/sleet/{insert miserable weather here}. I watch Dexter and Spartacus: War of the Damned and The Following. I am owned by a fat orange cat.

Where did your inspiration come from to develop such a chaotic, sexually supercharged world for the Seven Signs series?[/note]

I guess it’s a funny thing to say about a paranormal fantasy, but I tried to imagine what it’d really be like if the seven signs of the apocalypse started happening, and everyone was forced to admit that angels and demons and all that stuff were real. There’d be chaos. It’s fun to see what characters will do when their safe, sane world starts falling apart!

As for the smexiness… well, I guess that’s just the way my mind works 🙂 But yeah. When survival becomes priority one, we regress to basic needs, like food, warmth, safety, sex. Imminent death, the urgent threat of damnation, violence, sexual tension. They all go together so sweetly…

[note color=”#fd973a”]
Bad ass fallen angels, naughty archangels, sultry demons and tantalizing vampires all play a role in Redemption,  do you see any other supernaturals popping up in the future of Seven Signs?[/note]

Oh, yes. The many vicious minions of hell will certainly make an appearance. Imps, hellcrushers, flesh-eaters, tormentors. A few re-animated corpses might pop out of their graves. Some possessed cult followers will flash-mob Times Square. Oh, and don’t forget the vast, numberless spectral army of hell. That’s if we get that far, of course. No spoilers. The world might get destroyed…

[note color=”#fd973a”]
All right, now the tough questions are out of the way. Here are few fun ones! If we were to strand you on a desert island what three things would you want with you?[/note]

I assume escape items are out, right? I can’t have a helicopter, or three wishes from a genie, or anything like that? I’m really stuck there? Hmm. I’d want some sunscreen, so I can laze around and sunbake with impunity. An e-reader packed with good books, hopefully one with a long battery life. And, er… I dunno. A big box of matches.

[note color=”#fd973a”]
What is one book everyone should read?[/note]

One of mine, naturally 🙂 Failing that…  If you love epic fantasy? Read Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie. If you love paranormal romance, read Pamela Palmer’s Feral Warriors series.

[note color=”#fd973a”]
If you were a superhero, what would your name be?[/note]

Amazon Woman!!! By day, she’s a mild-mannered romance author. By night, her kick-ass virtual avatar prowls the online bookstores, staking sparkling vampires through their feeble hearts and bringing swift, sticky death to virginal intern heroines everywhere…

[note color=”#fd973a”]
If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?[/note]

The power to turn back time. I can think of so many uses for that…

[note color=”#fd973a”]
What advice would you give a writer looking to break into the world of authors?[/note]

Don’t be afraid to be different. Find what you love and go for it! There are so many opportunities out there.

[note color=”#fd973a”]
Thank you so much for writing such an awesome story. I wasn’t lying when I said that you’ve found a fan for life, but for anyone who doesn’t realize the value of my opinion when it comes to a great read … Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book(s)

Because they’re fun, dark, twisted, sexy and romantic. Or should I just promise you all cookies…?

Rapid Fire:

  1. Zombies, Vamps, Werewolves, or Shifters?

Zombies. Or vamps. Werewolves aren’t really my thing.

  1. Tea or Coffee?

Coffee. Mmm, coffee…

  1. Favorite movie?

Ever? Wow, that’s a hard one. Probably Raiders of the Lost Ark. Or The Empire Strikes Back. Or The Usual Suspects.

  1. Reading or writing?

They’re both fun! But writing has less guilt attached. Makes me feel like I’m working.

  1. Sleeping or eating?

Sleeping. And then eating. And then sleeping some more. When I’m reincarnated, I’m gonna come back as my cat.

Japheth the Tainted is on the hunt for a mysterious demon vampire. But meeting her face-to-face might disarm his warrior spirit—and spark an unquenchable passion with apocalyptic consequences.

As a fallen angel, Japheth is determined to make his way back to heaven by staying pure and slaying hellspawn. With a new scourge of vampires unleashed by a blood-drinking demon, the Prince of Thirst, there’s plenty to be done. But Japheth is after one vampire in particular—the one they call the Angel Slayer.

Rose Harley never wanted to be a vampire, but the Prince of Thirst can turn even the kindest soul into a soldier of hell. Feeling abandoned by God, she stalks the West Village taking revenge on his angels—until she meets her match.

When Japheth and Rose encounter each other, the battle is fierce and charged with desire. But when they discover a common enemy—the Prince of Thirst himself—they form a dangerous alliance that could either cost them their eternal lives, or spark a love more powerful than heaven or hell.[/note]
