Waiting on Wednesday

{Waiting on Wednesday #16} Chasing Shadows and The Midnight Dress

“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where bloggers can rant and rave about any upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating. For my addition, I will be spotlighting an upcoming book AND sometimes I will throw in a video game release that I am dying to get my hands on!

This week in WoW, I’m waiting on two books from Knopf Books for Young Reader – fast-paced action novels with weird descriptions and amazing covers. Check them out and let me know what you think!!

Overview:

Chasing Shadows is a searing look at the impact of one random act of violence.
Before: Corey, Holly, and Savitri are one unit—fast, strong, inseparable. Together they turn Chicago concrete and asphalt into a freerunner’s jungle gym, ricocheting off walls, scaling buildings, leaping from rooftop to rooftop.
But acting like a superhero doesn’t make you bulletproof…
After: Holly and Savitri are coming unglued. Holly says she’s chasing Corey’s killer, chasing revenge. Savitri fears Holly’s just running wild—and leaving her behind. Friends should stand by each other in times of crissi. But can you hold on too tight? Too long?
In this intense novel, told in two voices, and incorporating comic-style art sections, Swati Avasthi creates a gripping portrait of two girls teetering on the edge of grief and insanity. Two girls who will find out just how many ways there are to lose a friend . . . and how many ways to be lost.[/note]

Pre-Order:

Why am I waiting on Chasing Shadows, it should be obvious really. This one sentence says it all, “In this intense novel, told in two voices, and incorporating comic-style art sections”. Um why yes please give me comic book action with eccentric heroes and thrust me into a story with two girls on the edge of insanity. Sounds like an amazing fantasy ride to me!

Overview:

Quiet misfit Rose doesn’t expect to fall in love with the sleepy beach town of Leonora. Nor does she expect to become fast friends with beautiful, vivacious Pearl Kelly, organizer of the high school float at the annual Harvest Festival parade. It’s better not to get too attached when Rose and her father live on the road, driving their caravan from one place to the next whenever her dad gets itchy feet. But Rose can’t resist the mysterious charms of the town or the popular girl, try as she might.
Pearl convinces Rose to visit Edie Baker, once a renowned dressmaker, now a rumored witch. Together Rose and Edie hand-stitch an unforgettable dress of midnight blue for Rose to wear at the Harvest Festival—a dress that will have long-lasting consequences on life in Leonora, a dress that will seal the fate of one of the girls. Karen Foxlee’s breathtaking novel weaves friendship, magic, and a murder mystery into something moving, real, and distinctly original.[/note]

Pre-Order the Hardcover:

This book sounds rather amazing! I love a good murder mystery and even though this novel was first published in March, we’ll overlook that little part because it’s definitely worth mentioning and bringing to everyone’s attention if you haven’t already picked it up! So swoon away!

So what about you? What games or books are you waiting on?
