“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where bloggers can rant and rave about any upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating. For my addition, I will be spotlighting an upcoming book AND sometimes I will throw in a video game release that I am dying to get my hands on!

This week in WoW, we’re talking about my HIGHLY anticipated books for this year. Books I hope will not disappoint!

The Chaos of Stars
Title: The Chaos of Stars
Author: Kiersten White
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication date: 11/28/2013
[note color="#eed24f"]

Overview:

Isadora’s family is seriously screwed up.

Of course, as the human daughter of Egyptian gods, that pretty much comes with the territory. She’s also stuck with parents who barely notice her, and a house full of relatives who can’t be bothered to remember her name. After all, they are going to be around forever—and she’s a mere mortal.

Isadora’s sick of living a life where she’s only worthy of a passing glance, and when she has the chance to move to San Diego with her brother, she jumps on it. But Isadora’s quickly finding that a “normal” life comes with plenty of its own epic complications—and that there’s no such thing as a clean break when it comes to family. Much as she wants to leave her past behind, she can’t shake the ominous dreams that foretell destruction for her entire family. When it turns out there may be truth in her nightmares, Isadora has to decide whether she can abandon her divine heritage after all.

With a name like Isadora and Egyptian gods in the mix, what’s not to love about this novel. It sounds absolutely amazing. And even though I’m not fond of the cover, I want it. Will read it. Got to HAVE it!

The Dollhouse Asylum
Title: The Dollhouse Asylum
Author: Mary Gray
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Publication date: 10/22/2013
[note color="#cccccc"]

Overview:

A virus that had once been contained has returned, and soon no place will be left untouched by its destruction. But when Cheyenne wakes up in Elysian Fields–a subdivision cut off from the world and its monster-creating virus–she is thrilled to have a chance at survival.

At first, Elysian Fields, with its beautiful houses and manicured lawns, is perfect. Teo Richardson, the older man who stole Cheyenne’s heart, built it so they could be together. But when Teo tells Cheyenne there are tests that she and seven other couples must pass to be worthy of salvation, Cheyenne begins to question the perfection of his world.

The people they were before are gone. Cheyenne is now “Persephone,” and each couple has been re-named to reflect the most tragic romances ever told. Everyone is fighting to pass the test, to remain in Elysian Fields. Teo dresses them up, tells them when to move and how to act, and in order to pass the test, they must play along.

If they play it right, then they’ll be safe.

But if they play it wrong, they’ll die.

This sounds like the craziest version of Stepford Wives I’ve ever heard, that and a little of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. Both of which I LOVE with a tremendous passion. So I am eagerly awaiting this novel, and praying it lives up to my expectations…
