“Waiting On Wednesday” is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spinewhere bloggers can rant and rave about any upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating. For my addition, I will be spotlighting both an upcoming book AND video game release that I am dying to get my hands on!
This week in WoW we’re talking Science Fiction. Magic, super powers, cloning, and aliens! Check out the three awesome novels below that have been on my GEEK radar!
A riveting new story from Cat Patrick, author of Forgotten and Revived.
17-year-olds Lizzie, Ella, and Betsey Best grew up as identical triplets… until they discovered a shocking family secret. They’re actually closer than sisters, they’re clones. Hiding from a government agency that would expose them, the Best family appears to consist of a single mother with one daughter named Elizabeth. Lizzie, Ella, and Betsey take turns going to school, attending social engagements, and a group mindset has always been a de facto part of life…
Then Lizzie meets Sean Kelly, a guy who seems to see into her very soul. As their relationship develops, Lizzie realizes that she’s not a carbon copy of her sisters; she’s an individual with unique dreams and desires, and digging deeper into her background, Lizzie begins to dismantle the delicate balance of an unusual family that only science could have created.
Clones – why yes please! Hiding from a government agency, one sister diverging from the rest, this novel sounds fascinating, fast-paced, and worth adding to my Sci-Fi collection!
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mistborn Trilogy, Brandon Sanderson, comes the first book in a new, action-packed thrill ride of a series—Steelheart.
Ten years ago, Calamity came. It was a burst in the sky that gave ordinary men and women extraordinary powers. The awed public started calling them Epics.
But Epics are no friend of man. With incredible gifts came the desire to rule. And to rule man you must crush his wills.
Nobody fights the Epics . . . nobody but the Reckoners. A shadowy group of ordinary humans, they spend their lives studying Epics, finding their weaknesses, and then assassinating them.
And David wants in. He wants Steelheart—the Epic who is said to be invincible. The Epic who killed David’s father. For years, like the Reckoners, David’s been studying, and planning—and he has something they need. Not an object, but an experience.
He’s seen Steelheart bleed. And he wants revenge.
Sanderson is an author who knows how to tell a compelling story. He’s worth reading, worth discovering for the first time, and worthy of having a legion of followers – which he does. And after reading the overview for Steelheart, I want to see Steelheart bleed too! This is an EPIC MUST-READ!
Talia has a secret, one that will save her world and yet rip it apart. Only she can decide if the price is worth it.
Scientist Talia Zaryn has always had visions of an alien invasion and of her own death. She has kept it a secret, hoping they are nothing more than childish nightmares. But when her face in the mirror matches that of her dreams, she fears the dreams are prophetic. Talia must prove that life exists beyond their planet, Sendek; perhaps then people will prepare to fight.
Talia’s work at the Space Exploration Foundation leaves no time for personal relationships, but Major Landry Sutton is not looking for a friend. He is looking for a traitor. His ability to sense emotions convinces him Talia is that traitor until a touch sizzles between them. In an instant their minds are connected. Just as the two begin to trust each other, the invading force arrives.
Talia and Landry must uncover the secrets of Sendek’s past if they hope to defeat these terrifying creatures. And Talia is the key—if only she can learn to trust the magic coursing through her veins.
I LOVE aliens. All aliens. My favorite Sci-Fi movies are the ones were aliens try to take over the world. And Magic Wakes seems like a perfect fit for me and my Geekery! Not only does it have aliens, but magic and connecting minds. How cool is that? How awesome is that?!!!
So what about you? What games or books are you waiting on?
