1. Basics
[/title1_wrap]

When you are about to review an MMO you have to understand that it’s constantly being updated, but I feel that it’s okay to review this game since it doesn’t have any single player at all.

Okay! So, in short League of Legends is a MOBA/DOTA game based on cooperative play completely. There is an option to play against the AI but more about that later.

The game is free to play and is made by Riot Games, it was released back in 2011 and still remains strong with millions of players.

The game doesn’t require a strong computer to be able to be run on the max graphics due to its style. (We’ll come back to that later)

But if you’re playing on a bad laptop then your computer automatically selects the low graphics option so no worries!

First we’re going to talk about the games interface and then we’re going to talk about the gameplay etc. etc…

So! Without further ado, let’s begin shall we?

2. Interface
[/title1_wrap]

What I want to talk about first is the ‘’pre-game-interface’’ if you will, the launcher itself is nothing special, first it updates and then you login but then you’re HOLY CRAP!!! Because it has an animated background and music, the fire moves and the character moves as well. (Depending on what they put on the background that is)

When you actually log into the game you’ll notice the news feed and the YouTube ad where they talk about the game and offer you a free skin if you subscribe to their channel. (We’ll get to the payment stuff later)

You’ll then see what’s on sale and the huge PLAY button on the top, you can go to your profile from the top right and to your friends list and messages from the lower right.

When you click on PLAY it goes into this menu that has PVP, CO-OP VS AI, CUSTOM GAMES and TUTORIAL.

From there you can choose the map you want to play on and the game mode, which are next.

The game has a an option to buy in-game money with real money but it doesn’t give that big of an advantage, honestly only stupid people buy these items.

3. Game Modes
[/title1_wrap]

You might have noticed that there are multiple game modes that are technically the same, there is no ‘’capture the flag’’ or ‘’team deathmatch’’. There is only two game modes, first is classic.

What Classic mode is pretty simple really, the objective is to destroy all the enemy turrets and then destroy the enemy bases, but there’s a small catch in this. There’s only two maps for this, first is the Summoners Rift, there are three paths (bottom, middle and top) where the five players have to go and lead these minions that are meat shields to be fair.

Like I said there are three paths or lanes as they refer to them, in between them is a huge jungle and bots that hold buffs but aren’t that easy to kill. Both teams can use these woods as cover for surprise attacks or as shortcuts.

And some of these buffs are pretty strong and if one team gets the best one and they are good players you are practically lost.

Of course there is a map called The Twisted Treeline with only two paths and three players but it’s so unpopular even though it’s pretty much the same thing with a smaller map.

The other game mode is called Dominion, this is more fast paced and it’s meant for more ‘’skilled’’ players, it sadly has only one map called The Crystal Scar.

There’s this big circle with capture pints and a jungle in the middle, just capture the capture point and hold it. Simple.

4. AI
[/title1_wrap]

In short, the game used to be super easy before the patch. So of course we’re going to go over the chances and improvements they did with the AI patch called The Rise of The Bot Army.
[image_border img=”http://empyreanedge.com/wp-content/uploads/AI-e1336481480674.jpg” pos=”right”/]

Since the update the AI has actually improved to the level of a novice player, they actually understand agro, traps, taunting, making traps, and leveling up correctly.

The combat is more challenging than most games have, especially if you play on the harder difficulty.

They know how to level up their skills and how to kill you effectively; they can defend pretty easily and actually steal your teams buffs.

If you’re not careful you can actually lose, but still this is the best place for new players to train and get money.

The AI in this game has quite the reputation, if you’ve ever heard the phrase. ‘’You haven’t faced Annie Bot’’ it’s from this game, and it actually makes perfect sense because she is freaking scary!

5. Gameplay

[image_border img=”http://empyreanedge.com/wp-content/uploads/gameplaybanner-111.jpg” /]

Okay, finally to the actual gameplay.

The actual combat is based on MMO’s combat system, meaning that you have a certain set of abilities depending on your character and you activate them by clicking on them or by pressing a hotkey, you have your mana/rage/energy bar on the bottom and you level up your skills in each game and you buy items from the store with the gold you get by killing enemies and thus improve your character even further.

You are able to choose your own ‘’champion’’ at the beginning of each round and you have to level it up in each game session separately, but this doesn’t mean that you’re playing for ‘’nothing’’.

With each game you win you gather XP and IP (Money) to your ‘’Summoner Profile’’ and gain small bonuses to your performance, you can buy new characters and such.

The gameplay itself is fairly balanced and certain characters have certain weaknesses, it makes the game even more tense. In the end of this little paragraph I’d like to tell you my main character. He is a tank and a freaking beast! He is Cho’Gath!

6. Community

[image_border img=”http://empyreanedge.com/wp-content/uploads/community.jpg” pos=”right”/]
The community is a little mixed, some people get angry the second they die in-game while others laugh at it. The game has its own website with awesome guides but there is another one called MobaFire that has even more detailed guides and such, if you have a question or a problem don’t be afraid to ask the community!

The fanbase is amazing! There’s so much support to new players it’s amazing, the pros are actual pros (Most of the time) and the average players are great too.
