Game Releases, Return of PSN, MW3, Updates and More:

What’s going on guys and gals?  A lot is happening in the world of video games.  I guess the big buzz is the long awaited return of Sony’s PlayStation Network.  After nearly 4 weeks (yes count it up) of being offline PSN returns to its faithful consumers.  According to Sony’s press release here is a list of what PSN users can expect with the network’s return:

  • Sign-in for PlayStation Network and Qriocity services, including the resetting of passwords

  • Restoration of online game-play across PS3 and PSP

  • Playback rental video content, if within rental period, of PlayStation Network Video Delivery Service on PS3, PSP and MediaGo

  • Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity, for current subscribers, on PS3 and PC

  • Access to 3rd party services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu and MLB.tv

  • ‘Friends’ category on PS3, including Friends List, Chat Functionality, Trophy Comparison, etc
    PlayStation Home

Restoration of service’s will be country based starting in the Americas. And it will conclude in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and the Middle East.  There will also be a firmware update which will force users to change their passwords when they use PSN for the first time.  So if you own a PS3, congratulations!

In other news can you guess who has a release date?   Yup that’s right Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is now set to release on November 8, 2011.  Sources at IGN confirmed it today after receiving the release of an Australian poster that clearly has the release date on it.  So for all you Call of Duty fans finish playing Black Ops because it will soon be time to move on, again.  I hope with this new installment we can expect something bigger and better than in the previous games.  Let’s face it, its basically the same game polished over and over again.  I need something new.  Fanboys don’t hate, I really enjoy COD like the next FPS fan.  But you know I’m right.

I guess there are going to be as many Resident Evil movies as there are games.  Hey trust me I am not complaining.  As a huge sci-fi/horror buff, I love Resident Evil and I love Milla Jovovich.  I can’t picture anyone else playing the star role of Alice.  And as long as she’s the star, I will continue to see the movies.  The new RE5 movie is set to release in September 2012 in 3D.

That’s all I have for you this Monday.  I will be picking up my copy of Lego Pirates today and hope to have a review for everyone soon.  For now please enjoy this weeks new releases.
