Mention Monday: New & Happening

Games:

Friday, I enjoyed popping Dragon Age 2 back into my 360.  I can’t express how much of an improvement this game is over Dragon Age Origins.  The combat system is a definite turn-on.  The reason I never finished Dragon Age Origins was because of the clunky combat and unbelievable hard boss battles even when I played on the lowest setting.  Usually I am the type of gamer that hordes everything possible in an RPG and I will attempt to cover every side mission gaining as much experience as I can.  But in DAO it was just not possible.  Because I was attempting to finish the game before DA2 was released, I did not leave myself much time for exploration or leveling up.  Needless to say, I don’t think I leveled my characters up enough to have a successful game in Origins.  Even though that was the case, I was still determined to play DA2 come heck or high water.  So far I have been more interested in this world as oppose to DAO.  Since they beefed up the combat to be more comparable with Mass Effect, this time around my game is going a lot smoother and I am enjoying the overall gameplay more!  I am also enjoying the sexy new graphics which don’t make me squint as much when I am surrounded by enemy AI in combat.  So far I give this game an excellent rating of 4.0 out of 5; hopefully it will be the same when I complete the entire game.

Enjoy the new games coming out this week…

Writing:

Lately my writing has been picking up tremendous speed.  Every night I’ve been fortunate enough to put pen to paper and something magical happens.  My characters are constantly beating me up side the head with a stick telling me where they want to go, what they want to accomplish, and who they want to pick fights with.  I only started the novella about 5 weeks ago and so far I’ve pushed out 2 chapters a week.  I think this is great progress, I am happy with the results, and I am looking forward reading it all at one time when it’s complete.  The only down side to this is the lack of sleep I have been getting over the past few weeks.  The more my characters talk to me, the later I have to stay up at night in order to flesh them out.  Don’t get me wrong, I am not complaining.  I am only warning people of my grumpiness ahead of time!!  But all in all its been another great week in writing!!

Books I’m Reading:

  1. Still reading and enjoying Halo: Cryptum by: Greg Bear—an excellent story to supplement the Halo universe for any fan.
  2. Lover Eternal by: J.R. Ward
  3. Finished Fable: The Balverine Order by: Peter David—while the narrator was predictable, I did enjoy the book for what is was, great entertainment to supplement the Xbox 360 game.
