Weekly Musings: Game Room Phase 1, ARC’s, and Giveaways!
Happy Sunday MGW family!
This week has been fantastic … stressful, but in its entirety fan-freaking-tastic. As summer winds down and I’m preparing to get my daughter ready for the first grade (*tear*), I’ve been a busy little bee updating my home. In this week’s Weekly Musing I wanted to share a little bit of what’s been going on in my world.
First up, my basement finally got a makeover into my dream game room. A game room is something I’ve desperately wanted since I was a little girl with my Nintendo game system. I’ve always craved a place to display my collectibles and show off my love for all things gaming (and HALO of course). With the help of my family and a subscription to Loot Crate and Nerdblock, I was able to create the game room of my dreams! In the images below you can see my vision. All I need are a couple more bookshelves for my ever growing collection of novels and the room will be complete. Please let me know what you think!
Next up, I received some amazing ARC’s! I’m so excited to read Caraval and The Survivor’s Book of Secrets for Minecraft! I know both of these will be epic. Also, I finished reading Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake over the weekend and let me tell you, it BLEW my mind. Literally. I’ll have a review for you guys this week. I was captivated from the first page to the last and don’t know how I’m going to wait for the second book.
Caraval (Untitled #1)
by Stephanie Garber
Hardcover, 401 pages
Expected publication: January 31st, 2017 by Flatiron Books
Before you enter the world of Caraval, you must remember that it’s all a game . . .
Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their ruthless father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the legendary, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.
Then, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation to Caraval finally arrives. So, Tella enlists a mysterious sailor’s help to whisk Scarlett away to this year’s show. But as soon as the trio arrives, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nonetheless soon becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with her sister, with Legend, and with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.
