O Ipsy! My Ipsy! Oh, how I love thee.
It’s time for another exciting Glam Bag review. April’s theme, “The Dreamers”. Whimsically put together with wanderlust in mind, April’s bag is cute and playful and features a few awesome full-sized items!
If you’re new to MGW (welcome aboard!), Ipsy is an affordable beauty subscription that sends subscribers a “Glam Bag” equipped with cosmetics and beauty accessories for just $10 a month. The wonderful thing about Ipsy is the ability to – mostly – customize the products you’ll receive each month. Upon signing up, subscribers can take a “beauty quiz” to determine beauty likes and dislikes, makeup preferences, and personal styles. Each glam bag/clutch contains 4-6 full-sized and deluxe sample sized products from top cosmetics brands. You can always check out past Glam Bag Reviews to see what type of items come every month!
Let’s see what arrived this month…
Tarte Cosmetics, LipSurgence™ lip crème in Wonder
Oh. My. Goodness. Wonder is a beautiful color. Bright pinks and reds are not colors I choose often. However, since I adore makeup crayons (eyes, cheeks, lips, ALL of them), it was the first item I tried on. Highly pigmented, with a smooth and creamy application, the color is a bold rose/pink and a little goes a long way. Paired with a darker liner, mulberry or chocolate brown, it matched well with my chocolate skin tone. One or two swipes is enough ladies. The only downside to this crayon is the stain it can leave on your lips after taking it off. And for those of you who are sensitive to smells, it does have a light minty fragrance.
City Color Cosmetics, Highlight Trio
Highlighter is something you only wear if you know what you’re doing. One can often come out looking like a faded out, pale comparison of themselves. And we don’t want that. For me, it’s a product I use sparingly, date night, concerts, that sort of thing. The City Color Cosmetics Trio was a very nice and high-quality product I enjoyed testing. Mainly I used the golden color and the rose/brown? (the colors on both ends). Both were stunning shimmers on my eyes and cheeks. However, if you don’t like the glitter effect this one might not be for you.
Nth Degree, Moroccan Argan Oil & Keratin Hair Serum
Guys, you know how I am about my hair, all natural everything. This Nth Degree Hair Serum may or may not get used. It seems legit, but you know me, I’m skeptical. I would love to know how it works for natural hair. So, if you’re a naturally curly girl like me, let me know if it worked for you in the comments!
Adesse New York, Organic Infused Gel Effect Nail Lacquer in Irina
Most will simply purchase this brand of polish simply because of their vegan and cruelty-free formulas. 99.9% of the time my nails are never painted. Ever. I don’t know, I’m just not a nail girl (hard to work on my novel or properly grip my Xbox controller with nails). #TeamNERDProblems. Anyway, I love gray. Gray is a fabulous natural color. I was very excited to test Irina and hoped for a bold storm gray to grace my colorless nails. Prior to writing my review I read a few reviews on the Ipsy Website and I have to disagree, personally, for my skin tone, the color worked. I would classify it as more of a mute or concrete gray than a raging thunderstorm or bright silver. It’s a very soft, feminine color and definitely one I will repurchase.
Crown Brush, C427 Duo Fiber Blush Brush
The website states, “Professional, champagne-quality brushes on a beer budget. It multitasks as much as you do! Use with your fave foundation, blush, or highlight.” Now, who doesn’t want a brush that can do everything and be everything you need? Brushes are a necessity if you love makeup as much as I do. The Crown Brush is a nice addition to my brush collection. The fibers are very soft and almost plush. For foundation I didn’t really care for the spread, I’m more of a sponge or Beautyblender girl. But for everything else I loved it and will definitely keep using it.
