About the Book:

Murder, abductions, and forbidden romance abound in this thrilling sequel to Sara B. Larson's acclaimed YA debut, DEFY.

Alexa remains by the newly crowned King Damian’s side as his guard, ever committed to helping him rebuild Antion and reclaim the hope of Antion's people, despite continuing to harbor a secret love for him. However, when another threat to Damian and his kingdom emerges, and blame is cast on their newly forged allies from Blevon, Alexa knows things are not what they seem. With the fate of her nation hanging in the balance once again, will Alexa be able to protect her king and uncover the true enemy -- before it's too late?

From the romantic relationships, friendships, love-hate relationships to ALL of the page-turning WTF moments, there is not one reason I wouldn’t recommend it.

Worst. Book. Hangover. EVER….

Why Sara? Why would you do THAT? I can’t get over how fan-FREAKING-tastic the Defy Series is (and if you haven’t read book one…DO IT). If you’re looking for a suspenseful fantasy, with character that will leave you an emotional mess, then pick up Ignite (but only AFTER you read Defy).

Okay, let me start of by saying at the end of Defy I was already an emotional train wreck. Our characters were in a better place, as far as the impending threat goes, but they were also left with scars. Not only emotional scars on the inside, but physical scars as well. Ignite in the same manner leaves many lasting scars on the crew as they deal with danger, deceit, love, and death. It’s probably one of my favorite second novels in a series EVER. Yes readers, it’s that good.

Warning – Spoilers Ahead…

As we begin our Ignite journey, we see how everyone’s dealing with the aftermath of what happened at the end of Defy. Alexa is no longer concealing herself as a boy. In fact, she’s still protecting the Damian but now she’s doing it as a fierce woman who’s no longer in hiding. This has earned her respect in some aspects and whispers behind her back in others. She’s also learning to deal with her new scar, a constant reminder of the terrible ordeal she had to endure, yet overcame. It’s also a reminder about the love she has for Damian the now king and the sacrifices she’s made to hide her love and let Damian rule.  It’s all so tragic and heartbreaking…*tear*  And for everyone else it’s mostly business as usual, restoring the kingdom, and destroying the reminders of the awful things the previous king did.

However, after the arrival of a beautiful noblewoman Vera who’s sent from Dansii, the new found ease of the kingdom is short lived. Shortly after her arrival, a group is sent from Blevon to attack the king, putting the alliance between Antion and Belvon in jeopardy.  Not only are the Blevon accused of attacking the king, but other villages as well with the aid of a black sorcerer. Everyone is intent on marching into Blevon but Alexa knows something is awry. But convincing a king who seems to be falling in love with another woman becomes the least of her worries when Damian’s brother is kidnapped.

UGH…the angst…the heartache…the plot…the conspiracy…the battles and sword fighting…Ignite has everything you could ever want is a fantasy.

I will rock with this novel so hard, heck, I will ROCK THIS WHOLE SERIES SO HARD. I’m trying my best not to give anything to EPIC away, but can I just stress how awesome this whole book is???? From the romantic relationships, friendships, love-hate relationships to ALL of the page-turning WTF moments, there is not one reason I wouldn’t recommend it. If you need something to tie you over until the next Falling Kingdoms or Throne of Glass novel, this is it…this WHOLE series is IT!
