Our Rambling Thoughts on Chapters 17-The End:
So this week instead of writing little notes as I read, I decided to just read straight through and then review the important bits.
So Madigan and Don were invisible for these chapters, except near the beginning. I REALLY hope Madigan gets what’s coming to him. But seriously he is involved with a hidden branch of the government I don’t think it’s going to come from his superiors.
Poor Heather! Still no hanky-panky between Cat and Bones! You almost got some! Almost! I soooo thought of you when they were grabbing that cake. I figured you would be so happy, and then no naughtiness!
I’m glad they FINALLY brought up going to Marie. I can kinda understand why they chose not to…but still. Kramer is a ghost and the control of all things ghostly really is Marie’s domain. People are dying and it’s because of a cruel chauvinistic, abusive, a-hole I think she would be willing to put Kramer in his place.
Wish Frost would have gone into more detail with what happened when Ian smacked Justina’s butt! I mean I really would have liked to see and hear what she had to say to him.
I have some ideas as to why they can’t find his third victim, but I’ll save those for my questions this week.
Bones’ new power is very interesting. Although I have to ask at what point does he basically become invincible?
Also, while I understand Kramer’s need to kill the cats…I really found it distasteful.
So I can’t wait to see everyone’s thoughts on this week’s chapters.
I liked how Frost finally revealed how Kramer kept finding Cat and the rest of the gang. I really am annoyed with Don though. Don’t you think that after all the trouble Cat has caused, by refusing to share info and trying to do things on her own, that he would have learned from her mistakes? How is he going to find out anything anyway if Madigan has him blocked from the compound?
So Madigan is getting his blood from ‘unknown’ vampires…hmmm. I wonder if he’s teamed up with other vampires or what. I was kinda hoping he was somehow involved with Kramer and his scheming, but now that Kramer’s accomplice has been revealed I guess that’s not the case. I am curious to see if his issues will be resolved by the end of this novel or they carry over into the next book. I’m really kinda not at all interested in this side story though. Yeah it gives them a reason not to be working with the team to catch Kramer, but still, it just seems like an extra story that doesn’t need to be there.
I was right!! I sooo knew Cat was going to be the third woman that Kramer was after! I mean I was kinda surprised that he talked a woman into being his accomplice. Especially in this modern day and age, I can’t wait to see what he decided to bribe her with. Eternal life maybe?
Hey Heather! You finally got your alone time with Cat and Bones! I have to say this is the first time I’ve read of a love scene in the air minus a plane or clouds to float on. Definitely interesting.
Now I still haven’t read the other Night Huntress World books, so I was a bit surprised that Denise is as invincible as she is. I mean she was shot in the face…the FACE!!!
So I’m off to read the rest of the book. I am finally getting into this book and I’d like to see how Cat gets out of it this time.
Chapters 34-The End
Finally we’ve reached the end….
I was uber-surprised that Cat actually attempted to go along with the plan and didn’t go off on her own. At least not on purpose.
I thought the ending was ok. I mean we all knew Cat and Bones would succeed, but the how was well written. I did wonder why a cornfield right next to a Halloween maze and such. I don’t see how nobody would notice a fire. Where I’m from fires are common and if someone were to smell the smoke even there would be people there asap.
Also Tate is part of Bones’ line, so why would they even think that he might turn them over to Madigan….
Speaking of Madigan didn’t I mention earlier that I thought that would be one of the untied strings? Well I just thought of another question involving Tate. Why doesn’t Madigan know that Tate is one of Bones’? I mean maybe he doesn’t really understand vampire hierarchy but still, wouldn’t it be in the records somewhere? Wouldn’t he suspect Tate’s loyalty on the fact that he is a vampire alone?
As for what Spade did to Sarah I found VERY satisfying. Sorry she deserved it. I really was hoping she wouldn’t get away with just a few broken bones. Not only did she work with Kramer against innocent women, but the cat killing, yeah she deserved to go splat.
Overall I think the book was good. There were parts that I expected along the way, but I think that is due more to the fact that I read A LOT and it’s kinda hard to surprise me when it comes to how a story is going to play out. But in a way that’s ok. Sometimes authors try too hard to throw in ‘twist’ endings and it can be annoying. I’m not sure if I really like the fact that they left the open ending with the Madigan/Don storyline. But I don’t really think they needed that storyline anyway. Yea I will read the other Night Huntress books, and if there are more books in the Cat and Bones series I would read those too. But this book wasn’t as good as the first.
- What do you think Madigan is going to do to help save face with his superiors?
- Would you think it would be worth it or not to go to Marie?
- What do you think of Cat and Bones’ idea to get the women together and use them as bait?
- I wouldn’t be surprised if Kramer decides to make Cat his third victim. What do you guys think?
- What do you think Don has come to tell Cat?
- What do you think Don is hiding about Madigan?
- Who do you think Madigan is working with?
- What do you think of the whole Don/Madigan story line?
- What do you think of Tyler’s offer to let Justina feed off of him? Do you think it’s just an excuse to try to get close to Ian?
- I can see that maybe Kramer would have been able to trick Sarah into helping him, but after she spent time with the other two girls why would she still be on his side?
- What do you think of the ending?
- Do you think Sarah got what she deserved?
- What were your favorite quotes?
- What were your favorite scenes?
- What did you think of the book overall?
- What do you think of the Night Huntress Series altogether?
Remember you don’t have to answer all the questions. These are just some areas we found interesting while reading and thought they’d make a good point of reference if you aren’t sure what you’d like to discuss. #CatBonesRA on Twitter and Facebook!
