Our Rambling Thoughts on Chapters 28-The End:
Yay I get to help lead the discussion again! I really do appreciate Diayll and Heather letting me jump in like this.
Soooo much happened in the last few chapters of this book. So let’s get started.
Did anyone else see Cat’s transformation not going according to plan? I can’t say I was surprised that she didn’t turn into a traditional vampire. But then again I don’t know if that was because she is a half-breed, or because Frost keeps throwing extra powers into the mix. But the fact that she still has a heart beat on occasion I definitely didn’t expect. But her ability to acquire the powers of vampires she feeds off of did make sense.
I also kinda figured that Gregor would do something horrible to Justina. He already has shown that he is a manipulative, evil bastard. What I really want to know though is how come characters that I like keep having to die? Really was it necessary to kill off Rodney?? I AM glad that Cannelle is dead though. I REALLY disliked her.
As for the final battle between Bones and Gregor I was really surprised that Cat controlled herself as long as she did. Of course she and Bones would be able to find a way out of it all in the end. But the Guardians had to realize she had been lying about knowing about the knife once Gregor’s henchman admitted to picking it up the day before.
I enjoyed parts of this book, but it was mainly the side characters that really helped me to enjoy it. However I didn’t like that Rodney got killed off. I do want to start reading the next book; I just hope that Cat and Bones will have finally gotten over some of their trust issues.
WTF……………………………………………<-Well, thank goodness the book is over.
If you guys can’t tell, I’m not too happy with Cat right now. Of course, she wouldn’t be a “normal” vampire. Of course, she would have a bomb ass ability and absorb vampire abilities. Let’s face it, that sh*t is kinda cool. However…………………………………………………..her actions drive me insane. I am grateful though that by the end she started to think like a normal person and let Bones handle the situation. She managed to show more restraint than in the past, which is saying something because before she had none. And then…………………………………………………………………………………………at the big EPIC battle…..she interferes and kills the guy. I mean, I am tired of her saving the day. For once, can Bones actually be the hero? How can he be an alpha male and not save the girl? That makes no sense to me!!! The only redeeming thing about these last few chapters was Vlad. I love that man. He’s a hot alpha who doesn’t give two sh*ts about anything!
Now that I’ve got the rant out the way, I’ll just list my likes/dislikes:
Cat’s mom a vamp: Like
Rodney’s death: Dislike
Cat saving the day: EPIC Dislike
The Ending: Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssssssssssssslike
Vlad, Vlad, and Anything Vlad Does: Like
Gregor’s death: Dislike
Cat’s New Superpower/Vamp Ability: Like….Except when she uses it
Mencheres Forseeing the Whole Thing EXCEPT the Battle: WTF
That Goofy Ending: WTF………………………Dislike!
“It would seem death becomes you.” – Annette
“Thank you…I heard it was all the rage this season” –Cat
“That’s what vampires do; we always come for what’s ours.”
THAT ENDING…OMG!!! 😕
- So what do you think about Cat’s transformation?
- Cat being able to set things on fire, do you think it is permanent?
- They mentioned another half-breed for the second time in these chapters. What’s your opinion?
- Also what’s your opinion on her killing off Rodney?
- The Guardians? What are your thoughts on them? Do you think they will show up in future books now that they know about Cat?
- Justine becoming a vampire…just desserts or just plain cruel?
- What do you think of the ending and the book overall? I know a few commenters in previous weeks thought the story was a bit far-fetched.
- Do you think Cat is finally learning to trust Bones and not be so pig-headed?
- How would you rate the book?
- How would you rate the series so far?
- What were your favorite scenes?
Remember you don’t have to answer all the questions. These are just some areas we found interesting while reading and thought they’d make a good point of reference if you aren’t sure what you’d like to discuss. #CatBonesRA on Twitter and Facebook!
