Our Rambling Thoughts on Chapters 10-18:
Holy mother of unmentionable crapola. Ladies, this will be quick because I’m shaking here and have to jump right into next week’s reading. I just forced myself to stop and OMG I didn’t want to.
First off, I’m glad we finally learned the truth about Gregor. What an ass. He all but forced himself on a very niave and scared girl. Eww –she was only Sixteen! That’s nasty when you think about it.
Bones reaction though –OMG- I was in tears. I mean seriously we know they make up, but the pain and shock was still real. What he said to her though, while the truth, ouch. She loves him, and again being Cat, she ran off to save him. Everything she does –stupid or not- she does because she’s in love with him. How can he not see that? Bones does it for her … and the woman? I wanted to reach into the book and bitch slap that manwhore.
Gregor –ugh- nasty pedo-egocentrical-controlling-ass. I have nothing nice to say of him. I hope he dies.
Tate’s back –insert smirk- and how nice of him to point out Bone’s manwhoring.
Cat, I love her strength, but when is she going to learn how gullible she is to manipulation. I hope this really sears itself into her skull. Gregor manipulated and controlled her to the point where she was afraid to disobey him or tell him no –when she was sixteen. In some ways, she’s allowed others to make decisions for her, or made the decisions herself under duress. Those always turn out bad.
At the same time, Cat was working off what information she had. While Spade hinted to more vampires/reinforcements, it doesn’t exactly help.
A lot of what Bones told her is true, but at the same time, he hasn’t exactly done much than screw her senseless. They’re always knee deep in some kind of supernatural dung heap. She knows in her heart that she loves him, and I don’t doubt his love for her, but they aren’t exactly couple of the year either. They have issues; all relationships have them. But it’s different, and then when she was getting comfortable, he upped and became like a super vampire with crazy mind reading skills.
I do wonder though, if Bones left to give her a taste of her own medicine. She’s only left him before with the exception of when she thought he was dead, which doesn’t count. There’s a difference between grieving and being dumped.
Vlad could burn someone to ashes with just his touch, even a powerful vampire like Gregor. So most people didn’t want Dracula to start playing with his matches.

“Bones has always been smart,” I muttered. “His intelligence was just camouflaged under a mountain of pus*y.”
